#ProductivityHacks: Making A #TodayList Instead Of A To Do List

As people, we decide what is important to us; that’s what separates us from the animals (well — that and opposable thumbs). We make long lists of things we want to accomplish and vision boards and 5 year plans and blah blah blah.

But.. what about now? Today? This moment?

How often do you wake up in the morning after 7am with a mountain of things to accomplish but only enough time to tackle a mole hill? Did you know that part of the reason you’re not accomplishing your goals daily is psychological? We all believe that we can accomplish in 24 hours much more than we actually can and therein lies the problem.

What I noticed was that I was making a longer list than necessary and I was padding my list with unnecessary tasks… so I stopped

12524430_1334069436619841_6800442574090905856_nI stopped making #ToDolists, and started making #ToDayLists and I urge all of my friends to do the same so why not share it?
The unspoken and unwritten psychological problem with a #ToDoList is that it gives you a false sense of how much time you actually have to complete a task.
The purpose is in the right place, but the perceived execution is wrong.
Writing down the task calls those ideas and thoughts out of your head (the mental plane) and into this world (the physical plane) through a pen onto paper.
Manifest. Check ✔️
But the next step is more important; Actually completing the task is about holding yourself accountable using a time frame that can’t be expanded into weeks, months, or even years.

Your ToDay List says “I’m going to accomplish these tasks or set of goals… TODAY.”
Simple right?

Try it in 3 steps:

Day 1 – Try completing  50% of the tasks you write on your #ToDayList. Its your first day so you’re bound to go a little over board like the student who brings the teacher an apple or the employee who wears a suit on his first day at Wal-Mart. It will get better.

Day 2 – Try completing 70% of the tasks on your #ToDayList. This is the second day of the rest of your life so by now you should be looking back at your day one #ToDayList, wondering why you placed 40 tasks on it and refining your priorities for day 3.

Day 3 – This is what I like to call the sweet spot. Day 3 is when your #ToDayList gets realistic and you hit 100% from this day forward. How? Because you focus on what is important and only list things you intend to, have time to, and can complete within a day. The feeling of checking off a complete list can be addictive and you will want to duplicate this feeling daily.
